Between Bodies

Between Bodies are a young Finnish band. Take some time to read this interview and check out their stuff!

Who are you and what do you do in your band?

Im Jere Kontiainen, and I play lead guitar in Between Bodies. Jan aigro (also known as Stevie, Stuge. Precious child has lots of names) Plays rhytm guitar. Jani Toijonen (Zeini) plays beautiful harmonies with his bass. Tapio Haverinen (Tapsa) Owns the role of groovy drumplayer. Tommi Malin (Uncle Tom) Is the voice of Between Bodies, Singing right thru the grave.

When/where was your band formed?

Between bodies was formed in august, 2014. Me and Stevie joined then to the remains of a band called ”pitkäviha”. Then we decided to start from the clean table. We wrote few songs and named the band Between Bodies.

Why did you choose to play Death Metal?

I dont actually have a clue why we started to play death metal in the first place. In those times, I was inspired by black/death metal, and I wrote the most of our debut single called ”dripping”. I think that was the moment our genre started to take shape. Nowadays we just write in heat of a moment.

How do you compose your music? Does only one guy do everything or does everyone contribute?

Most of the songs & riffs are written by me, but its common to use ideas from Stevie, or Zeini. Like in our song called ”warhead”, the main verse riff is the handmark of Zeini.
The writing process usually is done by all of us. We play the parts and start thinking the song structure. Sometimes it sucks and sometimes it writes itself.

Tell us about your lyrics, writing, inspiration etc.

Our lyrics are written by so many different persons. Sometimes the theme is like psycho killing spree, sometimes it’s mental illnes, War, Hate, Murder ETC.. Only thing that doesn’t get involved is politics. Some of the lyrics are By Tommi, some of them by Tapsa, And a small part even by me haha.

Between Bodies is relatively new and young band. What can we expect from you?

Face fisting metal \m/

How do you see the state of Death Metal music these days in your country and in general?

I would say the death metal scene is doing kinda well but kinda not. Most of the bands just remain underground even if their music is mind blowing awesome. Getting the gigs without a manager is a fucking pain in the ass. But when you get the gig, it’s usually worth it. Playing shows is the only thing to get yourselves heard. Underground metal just drowns in the internet.

What are your long term plans as a band? What do you want to achieve?

Our plans are in making great music, and having fun as a band. We want to achieve some recognition, and we want to find people, who like our music!

Name an other Death Metal band from your country that everyone should hear.

Everyone should listen to Diablo, Children of Bodom, Verjnuarmu & RE-Armed.
